Welcome to the Silver Works journal

A short note on what this journal is for, where the project stands today, and what we expect to share here as the work develops.

Concept visualisation. Indicative only; subject to design development and statutory approvals.

Silver Works is at an early stage. The building has been empty for a long time, the ideas for its future are still being tested, and nothing described on this site is yet approved, funded or operating. This journal is where we will record the developing story as plainly as we can.

What we will publish here

We expect four kinds of update:

  • Project progress. Verified milestones, technical studies and public decisions.
  • Heritage stories. The architecture, the local history and carefully sourced context.
  • Community conversations. Engagement opportunities and accurately reported feedback.
  • Design development. Approved drawings, visualisations and explanatory notes.

Where things stand

The emerging direction explores a heritage-led scheme that could combine supported accommodation with community-facing uses. Each part of that idea needs further design, consultation, approvals and delivery arrangements before it can be presented as anything more than a proposal.

If you have a question about the project, or knowledge of the building and its history that you would like to share, we would like to hear from you.

Be part of the conversation.

We welcome enquiries from organisations and individuals interested in heritage, community regeneration and potential collaboration.
